Jont here....The seemingly never-ending Delivery Tour is nearlly completed....just a few more to do. I don't know how I survived all 40 or so gigs but I did and have come out the otherside of Troubadour Boot Camp having learnt a great deal. Thankyou everyone who has been in the audience over the past couple of months....it has been an amazing and quite often surreal experience and I am sure I will miss sitting in people's front rooms and kitchens trying to explain to small children why it's quite difficult to sing when they are pretending to be a monster or singling out unexpected audience members to sing the chorus to a song they don't know solo.....ha ha....it's been a lot of fun - check out the video of what happened when a performance of Candlelit down at Kentish Town City Farm didn't go quite to plan at the bottom of this message...
Meanwhile, due to too many people telling me it's too unclear how to pledge on the Pledge Music site - we are going to pull out of doing it there and basically just put some cool, original and bizarre things for sale at The Jont Shop. Of course if there are any particularly inspired individuals who like what I do and feel there is now no outlet for just giving me a large lump sum of money towards the album campaign - then please feel free just to write to Lee (Lee@unlitrecords.com) and this can be arranged!
Otherwise, we are very happy to fund the record label in the traditional way of um, selling records! To buy said records just go to my website or click here to go straight through. The main release to focus on is obviously SET IT FREE, the new album that has taken me two years and not a small amount of Grey's Anatomy pennies to make. I am so excited about it, that in a revolutionary step (how do you do those wink icons?) and a fervor of pre-release excitement I see no reason not to put it up for sale straight away at The Jont Shop- so if you were at that gig and you didn't have any money, fear not! The new album is up for sale as a CD NOW! Obviously, as I want to get you all CD sharing, I won't be releasing it as a download on the shop until the official release date. So, roll up and buy your copy and Lee will send it to you straight away....
Release dates for Set It Free are now definite - the album will be out May 31st, with the first single coming out the week before on May 24th. That means people could start playing it on the radio as early as next week.....it's called All My Life and you can hear it up on my Myspace or see a video of the band playing it here.....all support welcome - phoning up Radio Two, Absolute or XFM to request it any time of day would be a great start, and if you hear it, phoning or emailing the show that played it to ask about it and say how much you liked it would be brilliant....
Other than that - there will be an album launch date soon for a venue in the centre of london, and also I will be doing a UK tour (a mix of band and solo gigs) from mid may to June (again dates getting coming soon) and then hitting as many festivals as I can throughout the summer. And this wednesday (tomorrow!), I am doing a solo gig at The Elgin in West London if you fancy coming down...tickets are available here with or without dinner included.
So... with withdrawal symptoms already from not spending last night meeting 50 new people and playing them songs til 3am while finishing off their cellar and supplies of cake and cheese....
